U.S. must reduce dependency on fossil fuels, Hinchey says

KINGSTON - The United States needs to undergo a "new industrial revolution" to move the country away from fossil fuels, U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey told the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.

And the solution might be right here in Ulster County, he said.

Hinchey, D-Hurley, extolled the work of The Solar Energy Consortium, the fledgling group working to attract solar energy development companies to the Hudson Valley, and its manufacturing partner Prism Solar Technologies Inc. as making a vital contribution to "the biggest problem we face as a species."
