PRESS RELEASE: SW Green Energy Awards - Cornwall’s Sustainable Energy Champion

8 December 2009

Capt Richard Parkinson, Managing Director of Mojo Maritime Limited, is celebrating his success in receiving a top honour at the 2009 SW Green Energy Awards ceremony, hosted by Jonathan Dimbleby, which took place in Bath earlier this month. Capt Parkinson received his award as SW Sustainable Energy Champion and was nominated for his continuing work in promoting marine energy in the South West.

The awards have been running for six years and are organised by RegenSW, the sustainable energy agency for South West England, and highlight the best examples of sustainable energy in the region.

The award was presented by Kelvyn Derrick, Chairman of RegenSW and Deputy Chairman of SWRDA (South West Regional Development Agency), and in presenting the award Mr. Derrick commented:

“Captain Parkinson has been at the forefront of promoting marine energy in the South West, and at every conference, event and occasion has been an ambassador for the South West marine industry. Recently, in a meeting with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), his role was seen as a turning point in helping the south west secure its designation as a Low Carbon Economic Area for marine energy. At every opportunity he sells the benefits of investing in the region and the strengths of being in the South West.”

Based in Falmouth, Cornwall, Mojo Maritime are the leading experts in Marine Operations and Marine Consultancy in the offshore renewable energy industry and are currently involved in the successful delivery of several high profile wind, wave and tidal projects.

Quote from Richard Parkinson:

“It is a privilege to receive this recognition of our achievements and we will continue to strive for the fulfilment of the low carbon economy in the marine sector in the region. Exciting projects such as wave hub provide an excellent opportunity for Cornwall to take the lead in developing marine energy and while there will be challenges there will also be excellent opportunities for the marine sector in the region”.
